PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR/EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
This position will primarily oversee the stations' programming activities, working with local management and corporate programming to establish the most effective program schedule for our television stations in Albany, NY. This position will also maintain the stations' Public Inspection File according to FCC rules and regulations, assist the general manager as needed, and represent the Station and the General Manager’s Office professionally and positively to employees, clients, vendors and viewers who call or visit the station. College degree preferred. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
Some Key Results Areas for this position are:
1. Structure the department to obtain programming and formulate schedules that will ideally increase ratings and revenues.
2. Become proficient with company TV programming software, communicate with internal and external partners, and listing agencies the schedules, preemptions, satellite feed and re-feed information, as well as, contingency plans for unexpected off-air scenarios.
3. Coordinate programming components to ensure excellent on-air quality, placement and accuracy.
4. Screen programming content as needed to assure adherence to FCC obscenity and indecency regulations.
5. Assist managers to establish a yearly fall schedule that accommodates all contractual obligations, and provides best opportunities for success.
6. Maintain an updated five-year programming plan and cost association.
7. Analyze ratings each sweeps period to identify trends that will maximize sales opportunities.
8. Maintain a well-organized public inspection file, both online and in paper files as per FCC Rules and Regulations.
9. Syndex addendums are secured from syndicators and syndex letters, retransmission consent/must-carry notices are dispatched to all cable companies to ensure syndex protection and carriage.
10. Complete all required reporting in a timely manner.
11. Work to ensure a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with our network partners, as well as cable companies, other broadcast facilities and educational institutions in our market.
