WTMJ-TV is the flagship station for Journal Broadcasting, located at the corporate headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Milwaukee is a breaking news market that is also a great place to live. We have beaches, every cultural event under the sun, the world’s largest music festival, hardly any traffic and… beer! We are looking for a newsroom leader to grow within our company. The ideal candidate is a passionate Type-A individual who understands news happens everywhere, and is always on the lookout for it. You don’t see this as a job, but a step in your career. You have good news judgment, a buttoned-down work ethic, and are curious about the world around you. Shift: Full-time Education: College degree with broadcast communication or journalism emphasis preferred. Skills: Candidate must have strong writing, news judgment and organizational skills; essential knowledge of broadcast newsroom operations essential; ability to work closely with others under deadline pressure; ability to coordinate all elements for newsroom production; excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary. Web and social media skills a plus! Experience: 4-7 years minimum news producing experience preferred. Must have a proven track record of producing winning television newscasts. Duties: Produce regularly-scheduled newscasts; work closely with members of news staff, production and creative services departments to create compelling editorial and visual content; oversee story development and placement within newscast; coordinate on-air execution of news product; write headlines, teases and other portions of newscast; produce, as needed, special broadcasts and projects; other duties as assigned by managers.
