Investigations Editor Denver Post - Denver, CO INVESTIGATIONS EDITOR Essential Job Duties: Supervise a team of journalists to focus on short- and long-term investigations as well as issue and policy stories that build on news events in the city and state. Execute and teach others on the most up-to-date computer-assisted reporting techniques. Critique and evaluate the work of content producers in terms of accuracy, grammar, punctuation, style and headline writing for print and digital platforms. Be able to obtain and edit content from a variety of sources, including Denver Post reporters and wire services. Understand and implement SEO techniques to ensure content reaches largest online audience. Work in collaboration with colleagues in all departments, including line/assigning editors, reporters, artists, photographers and videographers to enhance quality of Denver Post content, suitable for immediate use across print and digital platforms. Publish stories to denverpost.com. Experience in working with databases preferred. Qualifications: Four-year college degree or equivalent experience. Three years of newspaper editing experience preferred Strong, proven editing skills Excellent written communication skills, including punctuation and grammar skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, including editing, researching or rewriting as needed Deep knowledge of current events and expert news judgment. Ability to work independently Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, work accurately and handle breaking news Ability to collaborate effectively with online and print content producers Physical Working Conditions: Stand 5%, walk 15% and sitting 80% of shift. Edit stories on computer system approximately 90% of shift. Communicate by phone with colleagues.
