The Assistant News Director will oversee daily operations and maintain content quality standards across all platforms; make assignments; conduct daily coverage meetings; schedule staff; provide direct supervision to reporters, photographers, editors and producers including hiring, training and evaluation; and engage with the News Director to create and oversee strategic plans, promotional plans and special projects. The winning candidate will demonstrate a superior understanding of targeted coverage, storytelling, promotion, multi-media journalism and all necessary systems. The Assistant News Director must be able to perform the News Director’s duties should the News Director be unavailable. This person will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
