Job Description:
We are looking for a volunteer to serve as an intern. This is an unpaid internship as we are a startup company on a tight budget. Duties are varied. Typical tasks might include: updating web site material and design, designing flyers or other marketing materials under our direction; data entry/database management; entering press release information into online media website calendar listings; press clippings, etc.; further integration of social media; building client files; project management; researching people/organizations for outreach; track web site analytics and traffic; researching background information for speeches/presentations/social media blasts/blog posts/newsletters and avenues best suited to do this tasks; researching best practice for video inclusion onto company web site; special projects, and other such activities. If we had an intern with excellent communication and public relations skills, the intern might assist with press release writing and following up on those with local media contacts. Naturally, we understand the importance of making this internship valuable to college students by assigning appropriate, meaningful tasks.
We are flexible in terms of how many hours a week and what hours the intern can work. We are flexible about a start date.
Qualifications:
We think the best fit might be a student majoring in a business field, in communications, public relations, web graphics or marketing; however, we are open to other majors. We are looking for a professional, dependable person. Confidentiality is critical, as the intern could see or hear information relating to a client that must be kept confidential. We have a one office person staff: the Executive Director. The intern would need to have access to their own computer, internet, printer, and workstation area during their time of service and most work can and will be done by remote.
