Category: News Position/Title: Assistant News Director Details: WPEC CBS-12 in West Palm Beach, Florida is seeking an energetic and hands-on Assistant News Director to supervise the day-to-day workings of the news department. The Assistant News Director must be well versed in producing, storytelling, and multi-media journalism. This position is responsible for overseeing daily content, which includes closely working with producers, reporters and photographers, and maintaining the quality of WPEC TV's social media platforms. You must be able to perform the News Director's duties should the News Director be unavailable. You will also participate in long-term planning, overseeing special projects, and providing recommendations regarding employment decisions in the News department. This position requires a superior understanding of all equipment necessary in daily broadcast of newscasts and ability to reach other staff members. In this position, you will engage with staff members and interface with other department managers on a daily basis, and perform employee evaluations. Directly supervises employees in the News department and will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations' policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Other responsibilities as assigned.
