Position: News Director Company: Tribune Broadcasting Station(s): WTTV-, WXIN-TV Job Type: fulltime Hours: Compensation: / year Job Description: WXIN-TV Fox 59, is looking for the next leader of our successful news operation, which is one of the largest news producers in the country. Airing 60 hours of live newscasts each week, the News Director oversees day-to-day content on all platforms, including web, social media and mobile, with the expectation of being the first and best on-air, online, and on mobile devices. The station is well known for its award-winning, #1 morning news airing 4am-10am and #1 late news Fox59 News at 10, and is rapidly growing in its three hour early evening news block from 4pm-7pm. The successful candidate will have a proven track record executing breaking news on a large scale as well as creating daily investigative and enterprising content. The successful candidate must have exceptional management, organization and communication skills that will help maintain and inspire a positive working environment. Benefits: Education Required: Experience Required: 7-10 years of prior Newsroom Management experience, preferably as a News Director, Assistant News Director and/or Executive Producer.. Understanding of all platforms, focusing on web, mobile and social media. Excellent news judgment as well as organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage and control large newsroom budget. Other Requirements: Oversees news operation at WXIN-TV, one of the largest local news producers in the country. Supervises newsroom staff of 100 and day-to-day content of 60 hours of newscasts each week. Continuously reviews and critiques product, giving feedback to all newsroom personnel. Oversees all digital content, including station website, social media sites and mobile apps. Manages and controls news operation budget. Makes all staffing decisions. Works closely with the Creative Services Director on strategic promotion and planning. Works with General Manager on long-term planning and strategic direction of newsroom and newscasts. Performs administrative duties as warranted. Other duties as assigned by the station’s General Manager.
