Morning News Producer KGUN9-TV Tucson, AZ Shift: Weekday mornings; full-time Education: College degree required; emphasis on Journalism or Communications preferred. Skills: Candidate must have strong editorial judgment. Must be able to design and build a newscast, write compelling news and tease copy; and edit the copy of others in conformance with the station’s strategic plan for news. Must write compelling, clear and easy to understand copy and headlines for the website. Creative ability is highly valued. Excellent leadership skills in the face of demanding deadlines are a must, as is knowledge of broadcast newsroom operations. Must be highly organized, able to multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Good written and verbal communication skills essential. Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years line news producing experience preferred, but will consider an entry-level candidate with exceptional university and intern experience and strong references. Duties: Serve as line producer for a one-hour block of a weekday morning television newscast, with the possibility of filling in for the two-hour block as needed. Coordinate all elements with production staff. Build newscast, write news copy and teases, edit copy written by others. Add text, images, audio and video content to website. Must be willing and able to work long or irregular hours during continuous news coverage. Other duties as assigned by managers.
