News Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person for the position of News Editor. This person is responsible for the content and appearance of the News section in each issue, coordinating reporters, and assigning stories and photos. They are also responsible for editing all stories they write or stories written by staff/freelance writers. Flexible hours. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style is a plus. Sports Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person for the position of Sports Editor. This person is responsible for the content and appearance of the Sports section in each issue, coordinating reporters, and assigning photos. They are also responsible for editing all stories they write or stories written by staff/freelance writers. Flexible hours. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style is a plus. Photograph Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person with good photography skills. This person is responsible for the content and appearance of all photos in each issue. Please submit samples of your work. Will be responsible for assigning photographers to take, edit, and turn in photos. A good working knowledge of photography and quality photography techniques are a must. Flexible hours but must be available to take on and off campus photos throughout the week when the event occurs. Life Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person for the position of Life Editor. This person is responsible for the content and appearance of the Life section in each issue, coordinating writers, and assigning photos. They are also responsible for editing all stories they write or stories written by staff/freelance writers. Flexible hours. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style is a plus. Copy Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person with good writing and editing skills for the position of Copy Editor. This person will work closely with other editors to produce a newspaper free from misspellings, incorrect grammar and Associate Press (AP) usage, and libel. The Copy Editor is responsible for making sure all pages in the newspaper have been critically copy edited before a final print is made and submitted to the printing company. Flexible hours. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style is a plus. Online Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person for the position of Online Editor. This person is responsible for making weekly updates to the Internet home page of The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University. The web page is updated each week (and throughout the week as necessary) with the text content from the current issue and an online archive of issues is maintained. The site can be found at: http://www.isubengal.com. This person is also responsible for updating various social networking websites, including our Facebook "Like" page and Twitter account. WordPress experience is a plus. Advertising Manager: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person for the position of Advertising Manager. This person is responsible for keeping contact with regular advertisers, soliciting ads for commission, assisting in the design and layout of ads as well as layout and content of all ads and the classifieds section. Commission provides compensation. Flexible hours. Advertising Representative: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking responsible people with good sales skills that are willing to become part of The Bengal team. Responsibilities include making sales calls to local businesses and maintaining positive business contacts between the community and the campus. Commission provides compensation. Flexible hours. Production Editor: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person who is willing to work as a computer layout operator and/or ad designer. Applicants should have extensive computer experience. Good working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) is preferred and a plus. Must be detailed orientated, have a commitment to quality, work well under deadline pressure, work closely with editors, and able to learn new skills. Flexible hours but must be available during production (Sundays). Production Assistant/Ad Designer: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person who is willing to work as a computer layout operator and/or ad designer. Flexible hours but must be available to take on and off campus photos throughout the week. Staff Writer: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking responsible people with good writing skills and willingness to research story topics. Must be able to attend events, interview people of interest, and submit quality stories by deadlines given to them by section editors. Must also be able to write under deadline pressure at times. Please submit samples of your work. Flexible hours. Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style is a plus. Distribution Manager: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person to join The Bengal team as a Distribution Manager. Must be able to distribute the newspaper at the pre-determined time each week (Wednesday mornings). Will be in charge of working with other distribution team members to make sure the newspaper is distributed correctly and in a timely fashion each week. Must be able to lift and carry newspaper bundles (up to 10 pounds). Distribution Team Member: The Bengal newspaper of Idaho State University (Pocatello campus) is seeking a responsible person to join The Bengal staff as a distribution team member. Must be able to distribute the newspaper at the pre-determined time each week (Wednesday mornings). We will accept people that have a car (for off-campus or distant locations) as well as students that can distribute around campus on foot and at special ISU events as well.
